Julie Prater joined Cardiovascular Consultants in 2003. She has been with CVC 6 years. She is an experienced medical transcriptionist and her expertise provides quality documents for the patients, physicians, and employees. A portion of the quality that CVC provides to patients is through the accurate documentation transcribed within the transcription department. Cardiovascular Consultants is thankful for Julie Prater.
Best reason to work at CVC: My co-workers. The majority of my week is spent at work so it is important that I enjoy the people that work with me. Everyone helps each other within their departments and the staff works well together.
Describe a typical day for you at work: I, along with 4 other transcriptionists, type for 10 physicians and 2 nurse practitioners. There is voice dictation to download, charts to organize, typing to be done, and stat procedures to process. Cardiologists dictate complete patient assessments to provide quality documentation and share findings with referring physicians.
What do you like about your job? I like being able to interact with the physicians and the diversity of the typing.
What challenges you at CVC? It is a challenge to keep a good attitude when several people need something at the same time. Every person feels like their transcription is most important. I have to prioritize the importance of the request – and everybody think their request is the most important!
Most fun experience working at CVC: I enjoy the Christmas parties. Every other year, CVC has an elegant Christmas party for the employees and a guest. In the alternate years we have a Christmas luncheon. I especially like attending the elegant Christmas party with my husband and meeting all the other guests.
What do you like to do on weekends? Spend time with my grandchildren; they are so much fun to be with!
