The L. P. Maxwell, M. D. Nursing Scholarship was established by the friends of Dr. Maxwell at Cardiovascular Consultants in recognition of the contributions by Dr. Maxwell in the field of cardiology.

The L. P. Maxwell, M. D. Nursing Scholarship was created as an endowed scholarship at the Southeast Missouri Hospital Foundation to be used to assist individuals enrolled in the Southeast Missouri Hospital College of Nursing & Health Sciences in the nursing curriculum.  Dr. Maxwell was a lifelong learner and teacher.  This scholarship is dedicated to his spirit of mentoring students and enhancing the life and health of others.
