CR Talbert, Jr., M.D., F.A.C.C.

 

Dr Talbert is the President and Founding physician of Cardiovascular Consultants of Cape Girardeau, Inc.  He is an interventional cardiologist and recognized leader in implementing cardiovascular technology at Southeast Hospital and Saint Francis Medical Center to serve Cape Girardeau and Southeast Missouri communities. He received pre-medical education at the University of Missouri.  Dr. Talbert obtained his medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis, Missouri.  His internship training and Internal Medicine residency program was performed at Jewish Hospital of St. Louis.  His Cardiology residency was completed at the University of Missouri, Columbia.  Dr Talbert has been in practice since 1965.  He has published multiple articles and is a guest lecturer.  

Dr. Talbert is a Fellow in the American College of Cardiology.  Professional appointments have included Chief of Cardiology at Southeast Missouri Hospital and Saint Francis Medical Center.  He has chaired multiple committees at both institutions.  Additionally, he has been a leader in the formulation and introduction of multiple cardiac technologies now currently utilized in the region.  He is a past president of Cape Girardeau County Medical Society and the Missouri Heart Association.  He is currently a member of the Board of Trustees at Southeast Missouri Hospital. 


As a member of Cardiovascular Consultants of Cape Girardeau, Dr Talbert has led the development, implementation, and expansion of the areas most progressive and respected cardiology group. His area’s of clinical interest and expertise include interventional cardiology focusing on coronary artery disease and the management of congestive heart failure.

 

Originally from Kennett, Missouri, Dr. Talbert has resided in Cape Girardeau with his wife Bettie for the past 40 years.  The Talbert’s have three sons and three grandchildren.  The Talberts are members of Centenary Methodist Church where Dr. Talbert is active in the Chancel Choir.  Through the years, Dr. Talbert has been active in the Boy Scouts and remains a member of the Lion’s Club.  The Talberts enjoy music (Dr. Talbert has been a vocalist for numerous community events, including the Jaycee Follies); traveling; skiing; scuba diving; swimming; and mountain hiking (Having climbed eight of Colorado’s 14,000 foot mountains).
