L. P. Maxwell, M.D., FACC, FSCAI
On October, 28, 2009, our Lord decided that it was time for Dr. Maxwell to eternally be with Him. Dr. Maxwell's wife, family, friends, colleagues, and staff are deeply saddened and miss him so very much.
Dr. Maxwell was dedicated to mentoring health care workers in their study of cardiology and gave much of his time and knowledge to advancing the skills and increasing the knowledge of others in the medical profession.
Dr. Maxwell joined Cardiovascular Consultants in 2004 as a diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine certified in the subspecialty of cardiovascular disease with added qualifications in interventional cardiology. Dr. Maxwell was also a diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners.
Previously, Dr. Maxwell served as Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine and Cardiology at West Virginia University School of Medicine in Morgantown, WV and East Carolina University School of Medicine in Greenville, N.C.
While a resident of Morgantown, Dr. Maxwell was medical director of Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories of the Ruby Memorial Hospital of Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center of West Virginia University. During this time, Dr. Maxwell was an Adjunct Assistant Professor and associate member of the Graduate Facility of West Virginia University School of Physical Education.
Dr. Maxwell was a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, and the American College of Physicians. He was also a member of the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology and Society for Cardiovascular Computed Tomography.
Dr. Maxwell was chairman of the Pharmacy and Therapeutic Committee for both Southeast Missouri Hospital and Saint Francis Medical Center. He was also a recipient of the 2009 American Medical Association Physician Recognition Award with commendation.
