Best reason to work at CVC: Cardiovascular Consultants provides a stable, caring, working environment. The CVC physician practice was built on a solid foundation and continues to uphold that standard. The physicians and employees work as a team. We care about each other; supporting one another in good times and in bad.
Describe a typical day for you at work: Each day CVC physicians’ present charges to the Coding Department for medical care provided to patients at Southeast Missouri Hospital or Saint Francis Medical Center. It is my responsibility to review the dictation for the procedures, place the appropriate CPT code, modifiers, and diagnosis on the claim to submit to insurance carriers for processing. I also process insurance carrier coding rejections, balance charges at the end of the day, and continuously review coding publications for CPT updates and changes.
What do you like about your job? It is challenging and there is plenty of work to be done. CVC physicians and employees have a strong work ethic and we are encouraged to develop our professional skills.
What challenges you at CVC? Keeping up with change; CPT codes change, Diagnosis codes change, Modifiers change, Coding Edits change, the way insurance carriers approve codes change, computer systems change. The medical field is constantly changing.
Most fun experience working at CVC: The 1999 Christmas party was a festive event. CVC employees performed a musical review in honor of each decade prior to the beginning of the new millennium. Everyone dressed in costumes. Some people sang and others lip-synched. It was a merry time for all of us.
What do you like to do on weekends? I like to browse antique malls and flea markets. I also like to brunch at tearooms. I enjoy visiting the historic towns of St. Genevieve, Kimmswick, St. Charles, Missouri and Paducah, Kentucky.
